Invited Review Model Studies in Heterogeneous Catalysis. From Structure to Kinetics
نویسندگان
چکیده
Heterogeneous catalysis is one of the fields of modern technology, where the application of complex inorganic materials is of enormous economical importance. For a long time, the chemical and structural complexity of catalyst materials has precluded detailed insights into chemical processes on catalyst surfaces. In the last decades, however, substantial progress has been made toward a microscopiclevel understanding of reaction mechanisms and kinetics, mainly based on the development of new well-defined model systems and on advances in experimental technology and theory. Scrutinizing the example of supported model catalysts, we review some of these innovations in model catalysis. As a particular challenging aspect of today’s work, we discuss the question how detailed structural information on the model systems can be linked to catalytic reaction kinetics at the microscopic level.

Kinetics inversion of chloro-olefine in the solid acid system
The reaction kinetics of the isomerization 3,4-dichlorobutene-1 to 1,4-dichlorobutene-2 was investigated by using gas-liquid chromatography method in the presence of Fe2O3/MgO as solid catalyst in the temperature range 25-55°C. Fe2O3/MgO has been prepared by the support saturation method, tested in the isomerization of 3, 4-dichlorobutene-1 into 1, 4-dichlorobutene-2. This catalyst shows a high...

Heterogeneous catalysis is one of the fields of modern technology, in which a characterization of structural and chemical properties of solid surfaces at the microscopic level is of enormous importance. For a long time, such insights have been precluded by the complexity of most catalytically active materials. Recently, substantial progress has been made, however, toward a microscopic-level und...
متن کاملKinetics and Isotherm Studies of the Immobilized Lipase on Chitosan Support
The kinetics and isotherm studies of the immobilized lipase and the mechanism of immobilization on chitosan beads and activated chitosan beads with glutaraldehyde were investigated. The effect of glutaraldehyde on porosity of chitosan was evaluated by FESEM analysis. It was observed that the porosity of the carrier which has activated by glutaraldehyde was substantially increased. The validity ...
متن کاملAdsorption of Phenolic Compounds onto the Activated Carbon Synthesized from Pulp and Paper Mill Sludge: Equilibrium Isotherm, Kinetics, Thermodynamics and Mechanism Studies
A new activated carbon was produced from pulp and paper mill sludge as a low cost precursor via chemical activation by zinc chloride. The activated carbon was successfully used for the adsorption of phenol and two of its derivatives, i.e. 2-chlorophenol and 4-nitrophenol from aqueous solutions. The characterization of the prepared activated carbon demonstrated high textural properties for the s...
